Owners of VUDA Row Houses at Rushikonda have opposed leasing out the unsold Row houses to A.P. Medical Rehabilitation Tourism (AMRIT) Society of the AYUSH Department.

The owners have been on a protest at the site with placards asking AYUSH to go back since it was a residential locality. Protests were organised on Tuesday and Wednesday.

“VUDA has taken a specific declaration in the agreement from the buyers at the time of selling the row houses that they would not be used for commercial purposes. Using them for post therapy centres is not justified now,” says Raja Ramesh B, representing row house owners.

The owners express the fear opening such therapy centres with in-patients might result in the locality turning into treatment centres, guest houses and massage centres.

He said the owners had represented their objections to the District Collector, the VUDA Vice-Chairman and the AYUSH Commissioner but arrangements were being made for inauguration of AMRIT centres.
