The Adivasi Adhikar Rashtriya Manch has alleged that attempts were being made to give forest land to corporates and so far 7,000 hectares of land was taken away from girijans.

MP from Tripura Jitendra Chaudhury has alleged that girijan rights were being suppressed in the BJP-ruled Chattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand.

The Modi government policies were detrimental to tribal sub-plan and were aimed at making girijans leaving their land, Mr. Chaudhury said.

In contrast, in Tripura 98 % of applications under Forest Rights Act were resolved giving them a right to cultivate, he said addressing the conference on the second day at Gurajada Kalakshetram at the Steel Plant on Wednesday.

Former MP Midium Babu Rao said under Schedule 5 and 6 of the Constitution gram sabhas should be given primacy.
