Revision of electoral rolls from tomorrow

: With elections due to the municipal corporation, revision of electoral rolls will be taken up from May 15 to June 15, District Collector and Election Officer N. Yuvaraj has said.

The revision covers eight Assembly constituencies of Visakhapatnam East, West, North and South, Gajuwaka, Pendurti, Bheemunipatnam and Anakapalle comprising about 17 lakh voters.

Door-to-door verification of the four lakh houses under 1,698 polling booths would be taken up by booth-level officials equipped with a tablet PC and accompanied by an operator. Any changes would be made on the spot after verification of the current rolls.

The Collector said those who completed 18 years of age may enrol themselves in the electoral rolls up to June 15.

Carrying out additions, deletions and changes, a draft roll would be published on June 7 and the final rolls on August 16.

Aadhaar not a must

Since the revision is being only taken up in GVMC purview zone commissioners and additional commissioners would be assistant electoral registration officers.
