Fair Price shops’ dealers took out a rally from Gandhi statue opposite GVMC building to the Collectorate on Thursday and later submitted a memorandum to the Collector demanding that the Government withdraw the cash transfer method for the BPL ration card holders and to ensure that their livelihood was not affected.

The Government was phasing out the FP shop dealers by introducing several schemes who are dependent on the FP shops for the last 40 years, the district and city units of the Fair Price Shop Dealers Welfare Association said.

It wanted the government to involve FP shops in all its schemes and provide salaries to the FP shop dealers like in Tamil Nadu.

Every shop must have 1000 ration cards to ensure profit to the FP dealer, said president of the association Chitti Raju.
