A slice of comedy, a fair amount of emotional elements and unexpected twists seasoned with generous dose of horror is what debutant director D. Divakar thought while making Rani Gari Bangla .

With the movie hitting 150 theatres across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana recently, the Vizag-based filmmaker told The Hindu that the plot has several components including soothing music, catering to diverse age groups. “Most of the artistes of Rani Gari Bangla belong to Visakhapatnam. They not only essayed their roles with ease but also added value to the content,” said the filmmaker.

The director was accompanied by debutant hero of the film Anand Nanda, actor Teja, music director Eswar, producer Srinivas and president of Vizag Journalists’ Forum G. Sreenu Babu.

“The movie was canned in 40 days with a budget of Rs.2 crore. Next, I am planning to do a sequel Bangla Lo Bommali .

The shooting for the second part will start in December. Another plot on the theme Swachh Bharat Mission is also in the pipeline. This message-oriented film will focus on two elements clear mind and clean environment,” says Mr. Divakar.

With a slight modification in the cast and a fresh script, Divakar says the team will be back with a sequel that packs new threads in a different pattern.

Expressing his desire to make a mark as an actor, Anand Nanda said: “I actually wanted to do a commercial flick. However, since the horror genre is trending in Telugu film industry, I wanted to experiment with the genre. In Rani Gari Bangla , I play the role of a burial ground caretaker’s son who sets out on a mission to avenge the death of Rashmi Gautam (heroine).”

He said his next film will see him as a student. Anand Nanda says he is unmindful of the competition in the field and that his commitment towards work would take him places.
