Raavi Sastry birth anniversary celebrated

The 89th birth anniversary of Rachakonda Viswnatha Sastry, an icon in Telugu literature, was celebrated here on Saturday by his admirers, writers and others.

Mayor P. Janardhana Rao garlanded the statue of Raavi Sastry on the beach road at a programme organised by the Raavi Sastry Associates and other organisations. Judge of the ACB Court G.V. Krishnaiah, MLA of Visakha South Dronamraju Srinivasa Rao, former Mayor D.V. Subba Rao, Chalasani Prasad of Virasam, advocate and a former junior of Raavi Sastry Sistla Srinivasa Murthy, vice-president of Visakhapatnam Bar Association R.V. Ramana, many advocates, president of Society of Intellectual Voice I.M. Ahmed, family members of Raavi Sastry, and others participated.

Earlier around 500 pupils of the MBL School took out a “Telugu Velugu” rally from their school to the Raavi Sastry statue and paid respects to the writer. Mr. G.V. Krishnaiah and Principal of MBL School flagged off the rally.
