Christians across the city observed Good Friday with fasting, offering prayers and performing skits in churches . People of all age groups made their way to the church and recollected the pain experienced by Jesus Christ. At Infant Jesus Church, the day’s programme began at 7 a.m. and continued till late in the evening.

“The day is celebrated with repentance and reading out verses from the Bible, marking the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Siluva aradhana , day-long prayers and skits depicting the scenes of crucifixion form a part of the day’s events,” said Father D. Bala Souri and Father Anthony of Infant Jesus Church.

Christians offered alms to help the less-privileged. At St. Stephen’s Orthodox Syrian Church prayers began at 8 a.m. “The congregational worship with special prayers continued till 3 p.m.,” said Sam Cherian, former president of YMCA .
