The ‘indifferent attitude’ of people’s representatives from Seemandhra came in for severe criticism at the ‘Sagara Jana Gala Ghosha’, organised by the Visakha Zilla Adhikarula, Udyoga, Upadhyaya, Karmika, Karshakula Porata Samithi, on the Beach Road on Saturday.
Thousands of people, including women and school children, participated in the rally from The Park Hotel to the Kali temple carrying a long tricolour. The rally culminated in a public meeting. As many as 21 organisations representing various government departments and various sections of the people participated in the programme.
The speakers came down heavily on the Ministers and MLAs for not resigning from their posts. The speakers charged them with trying to cheat the people with drama of resignation. They held the people’s representatives responsible for the sorry state of affairs and sought all round condemnation of their attitude. They said that the movement would be continued indefinitely till the Centre reversed its decision on bifurcation.
District Revenue Officer and convener of the Samithi M. Venkateswara Rao said that bifurcation of the state would result in injustice to the people of Seemandhra. The Telangana protagonists were demanding separation only with an eye on Hyderabad. He said that the people’s movement in Seemandhra was only for keeping the state united.
AP NGO s Association district president K. Eswara Rao and RTC JAC leaders Raju and Murthy were among those who spoke.
Protests continue
The Samaikhyandhra protests to keep the state united continued on Saturday also.
The relay hunger strike launched by AP NGOs Association continued for the 24 day on Saturday. LIC, RTC, Medical and Health Department, Public Health and Irrigation employees participated.
Doctors, nurses, class-IV employees, medical students and junior doctors continued their protests for the 45 day on Saturday. They raised slogans against the Seemandhra leaders, Centre and Sonia Gandhi blaming them for the present situation. The relay hunger strike launched by the Medical JAC continued on Saturday also.
Thousands of people participated in the rally organised under the aegis of Visakhapatnam South MLA Dronamraju Srinivas from Jagadamba junction to Kota Veedhi via Poorna Market. The participants raised slogans in support of Samaikhayandhra and the need to keep the state united.
