August 20, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 10:15 am IST - Visakhapatnam:

Two vehicle towing cranes have been sanctioned by the district Collector and they are being fabricated at Lucknow. “The GVMC has promised to give another three,” T. Yoganand, Commissioner of Police, told The Hindu.

The Visakhapatnam Police Commissionerate does not have a single towing crane, whereas Hyderabad Traffic department has 25 cranes.

“We are also in the process of acquiring body cameras to enable our officers to film drunk drivers and Collector Pravin Kumar has assured to procure another 50 breath analysers. Right now we have 30, “said Mr. Yoganand.

The Commissionerate has already fixed seven automatic red light violation cameras at important junctions such as Maddilapalem, Urvasi and Sheelanagar and plan to fix another 50 across the city. “E-challans will be sent to all violators” said K. Prabakar, ACP (Traffic).
