Plans to improve municipal schools: Vishnu

Infrastructure will be improved and municipal schools made more children-friendly so as to reduce the dropout rate and make them competitive as corporate schools, Municipal Commissioner V.N. Vishnu said. He asked the Chief Engineer to prepare proposals for improve infrastructure in schools.

Stating that in Chennai municipal schools were preventing dropping out by introducing various activities that attracted them to the joy of learning, he revealed on Monday a team of corporators and the Additional Commissioner (Finance) would be sent to Chennai to study the methods there. An advisory committee of officials would also be appointed.

Mr. Vishnu said the Tatipudi pipeline replacement could not be completed by the month-end as scheduled. It would be over by the first week of next month. By preventing leakages, it would result in improving supply by 4 to 5 mgd a day.

‘Badi bata'

Mayor Pulusu Janardhana Rao, Mr.Vishnu, Visakhapatnam South and North MLAs Dronamraju Srinivasa Rao and Tyanala Vijay Kumar, corporators Gogineni Sambasiva Rao and Ch.Pothuraju participated in the ‘Badi bata' enrolment programme at KNM High School in Ward 31.
