Panel to make suggestions

January 12, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 06:05 am IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

The Panel on Department-Related Parliamentary Affairs will go into the framework for disaster management and submit a report to Parliament suggesting necessary changes, Committee Chairman P. Bhattacharya has said.

Before the cyclone, State governments were working within certain rules and regulations. The committee would examine whether any changes were required in the laws so that any factors that prevented officials from working in such circumstances could be changed by law, he told reporters on Sunday after the two-day visit of the committee in Hudhud-affected areas.
