A strong police force of over 1,500 personnel drawn from various departments such as traffic, civil, crime, law and order, armed reserve and AP Special Police (APSP), will be present on the Simhachalam hill to oversee the smooth conduct of the annual Chandanotsavam festival of Lord Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swami, on Tuesday.
According to Commissioner of Police Amit Garg, the entire hill and the temple area has been divided into sectors and teams under senior officers will be present to address all issues such as traffic, crime, law and order problem and emergency situations.
Two outposts have been set-up- one on the hilltop and one at the bottom-and a control room has been created to monitor the event. According to the CP, close circuit cameras have been installed at all vital places, including parking areas and they will be monitored from the control room. “This apart, fire engines, ambulances and paramedic staff will be present round the clock,” he said.
It is also learnt that four access control squads with sniffer dogs will be doing rounds at all critical points in the temple area.
Mr. Amit Garg said that public address systems have been installed and the traffic team will be present to handle the traffic and parking problem.
“Areas have been earmarked for parking and shuttle buses have been provided to ferry the devotees from the parking slots to the temple area.
For the physically-challenged, battery operated vehicles have been kept as standby. A special women team with women officers will also be present,” he said.
