In a fresh initiative, MP and CITU general secretary Tapan Sen has asked the BHEL management to explore an out-of-court settlement to end the imbroglio over implementation of Modified Draft Rehabilitation Scheme (MDRS) on financial benefits to the employees following merger of Bharat Heavy Plate and Vessels (BHPV).
Following a batch of petitions mainly from the officers’ body, Appellate Authority for Industrial & Financial Reconstruction stayed the BIFR order dated August 29, 2013 about five months ago on the ground that MDRS was signed on August 23, 2013.
The authority had ruled that without application of mind, the order was passed in a routine manner and asked the authorities concerned to consider the whole matter afresh considering the objections and suggestions articulated by the appellants.
Mr. Sen, who recently visited Heavy Plates and Vessels Plant (HPVP) and raised the issue during his talks with the management, sought a fresh initiative.
“As CITU-affiliated recognised union BHPV Employees’ Union is keen on sorting out the issue, we have told the management in no uncertain terms that an initiative has to be launched for an out-of-court settlement,” union honorary president Ch. Narsinga Rao told The Hindu on Monday.
BHPV became HPVP, the 17 unit of BHPV after BIFR approved the MDRS and Union Cabinet cleared the proposal in February, 2013.
Reconstruction workThe loss suffered by HPVP is estimated at around Rs.20 crore to Rs.25 crore. Reconstruction work will start in a week.
