An ‘online passport mela’ is being organised by the Regional Passport Office at the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) at Murali Nagar on May 31.
The mela is being organised due to a heavy surge in the demand for passport services and non-availability of normal application submission slots at an earlier date, according to passport officer N.L.P. Choudary.
A total of 800 online appointments would be released, three days prior to the mela, on May 28 at 5.30 p.m. Only fresh/normal and re-issue/normal applications will be accepted at the mela. Applicants have to book their appointments online by registering themselves on the website www.passportindia.gov.in . They should visit the PSK at the scheduled time with printout of the Application Reference Number (ARN) sheet along with all requisite documents in original.
Only passport applicants, who get online appointments on the scheduled date, will be allowed to submit their applications. Applicants under ‘walk-in’ category, PCC and Tatkal cases, pending cases and applicants without appointment will not be allowed on the scheduled mela day.
Mr. Choudary appealed to applicants to bear in mind that Police Verification will be done at all such addresses, where they have resided during the preceding one year of submission of application. Applicants have been asked not to suppress any material facts about their previous addresses. Any such suppression of information, if revealed at a later stage, could lead to imposition of penalty and closing of the application form. He also advised the applicants to carry all the requisite documents at the time of visiting the PSK as not doing so was resulting in unnecessary delay.
