The PM Palem police on Saturday arrested Cherukuri Sudhakara Raju on the charges of cheating and grabbing land by forging documents and fraudulently selling government land to a person.

The 46-year-old Sudhakara Raju, native of Hyderabad, was allegedly involved in 13 criminal cases (forgery and land grabbing) in Vizag city and also involved in land grabbing cases in Tirupati and Vijayawada of Andhra Pradesh.

DCP (north zone) Navin Gulati said that Sudhakara Raju conspired with two others -- Ommi Dali Naidu and Gedda Lakshmi Ganeswara Rao -- and convinced Putla Anil Kumar, native of Ponnuru area in Guntur district and his friends Kusampudi Rama Raju and Manthina Dasratha Maha Raju, to purchase lands in Vizag at cheaper prices. Sudhakara Raju claimed that he owned around 24.5 acres of land near Visakha Valley School in Vizag city.

He created forged documents and fake registration papers of the government land falling under survey number 124.

Believing Sudhakara Raju, gullible Anil Kumar had given ₹4.5 crore to Sudhakara Raju as advance for purchase of the land. However, Sudhakara Raju denied to get registered the land in the name of Anil Kumar and refused to return the amount. Anil Kumar approached the PM Palem police on June 29, 2017 and lodged a complaint against Sudhakara Raju.

Based on the complaint, ACP of Madhurawada K. Nageswara Rao and Inspector of PM Palem K. Lakshmana Murthy investigated the case. “We found that Sudhakara Raju forged all the land documents to cheat gullible people and the entire 24.5 acres of landwas found to be government land,” he said.
