A group of Girijans from Saagulu and Lakkavaram villages in G.K. Veedhi mandal who were beaten up by the Maoist party’s militia members, were assured that all help and protection would be provided by them, when they met Joint Collector Pravin Kumar at his chamber here on Wednesday.

Girijans met Mr. Pravin Kumar along with office-bearers of district branches of AP ST Employees Association and the Girijan Ikya Vedika. The organisations submitted memoranda to the Joint Collector and wanted the Government to provide security and support to the victims, who were still afraid of attacks by the militia.

Mr. Pravin Kumar told the Girijans that he would be in touch with the officials and monitor the situation.
