Bhaskarachari narrates 4,500 jokes in 52 hours and 15 minutes
Constant practice and undeterred determination made Vemula Bhaskarachari, president of Laughters Fun Club and foreman at Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP), achieve his objective with ease.
What started off as a 50-hour expedition has crossed a couple of hours extra on the concluding day of ‘Hasyalahari’ at Vaisakhi Jala Udyanavanam here on Sunday. At 2:51 p.m., Bhaskarachari has set a new benchmark and wrapped up his two-and-a-half day journey completing 4,500 jokes in 52 hours and 15 minutes.
It was an emotional moment when Mr Bhaskarachari’s wife and his mother embraced him with tears of joy after his achievement.
His friends also joined him on stage to share the moments of happiness. His untiring sense of humour covered varied topics like terrorism, office environment, conversation between lovers apart from husband and wife and several others.
His journey came to a close with a joke on husband and wife. Husband reaches home after office hours and asks his wife to serve him a cup of coffee. After tasting the coffee he says: “I have never tasted such a perfect coffee since 25 years of our marriage.” Wife: “Sorry, I made a mistake of giving you my cup instead of yours”.
“It was like a dream come true where my six-month practice is going to see a new dimension. If you are passionate about your dreams, sky is the limit for you. All it takes is a little bit of determination and undying energy,” Mr Bhaskarachari said.
Minister for Infrastructure and Investment Ganta Srinivasa Rao, who attended the event as chief guest, said: “In this mechanical world, sense of humour makes an impact on our well-being. One can imagine the amount of effort that has gone into the mission initiated by Mr Bhaskarachari. I wish he along with the team members organise many such events,”
Later, Mr Bhaskarachari was felicitated with Book of State Records by the invitees including MLAs Chintalapudi Venkataramayya and Avanthi Srinivas, actors Poornima and Kallu Chidambaram, among others.
After due verification process of video clippings by the authorities concerned, the effort taken by Mr Bhaskarachari is likely to find a place in the Limca Book of Records.
