No one is a scientist by birth and the hard work makes a student a scientist, Andhra University Vice-Chancellor G.S.N. Raju said while inaugurating a five-day Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) internship science camp, sponsored by Department of Science and Technology, here on Wednesday.
“Small experiments in class room spark off a lot of interest in the student,” he said. Good results could be achieved by adopting what they learnt to the actual conditions, Prof. Raju said. He regretted the lack of awareness to get patent rights for the many discoveries and findings in the country. Director of the Indian Institute of Geomagnetism (Mumbai) D.S. Ramesh that ‘Patience, hard work and dedication (PHD)’ were necessary to achieve success, even if one does not have a Ph.D. Dr. Ramesh urged the students to work on innovative ideas to make their studies more useful to the existing problems. Principal of AU College of Science and Technology C.V. Raman said no one should lose self confidence and success was achieved if one believed in self. Academic Coordinator of the programme M. Purnachandra Rao and organising coordinator V. Siddaiah explained about INSPIRE camp, the fifth being organised by the university and in which students of Intermediate and classes XI and XII are participating.
