Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry and Finance and Corporate Affairs Nirmala Sitharaman is arriving on Friday on a two-day visit of the city.
During her first visit to the city as Union Minister of State she would be participating in a meeting organised by MPEDA with stakeholders in the fishing industry on Saturday, BJP State unit finance cell convenor Ch. Ramakotaiah, along with member of BJP State Executive Committee Nagendra and member of finance committee Kasi Viswanatha Raju, told media here on Thursday.
Lok Sabha member K. Haribabu was keen on making the fishing industry a Rs. 30,000 crore industry from the present Rs. 12,000 crore, he said. As a member of the Rajya Sabha from the State, she has been taking keen interest in the development of Andhra Pradesh. Her visit and interaction with prospective investors and others would help in speedy industrialisation of the State, he added.
She would also be interacting with representatives of business and commerce who have specific issues like service tax and other such matters which come under her purview. Ms. Sitharaman would be addressing party workers on Friday evening at Subbalakshmi Kalyana mandapam, Mr Ramakotaiah said.
As she represents the State and was holding a key portfolio, the State can hope to get a favourable response for proposals for industrialisation of Andhra Pradesh, Mr. Ramakotaiah said.
