An officer of the 2007 batch of IPS Vikramjit Duggal took charge as Superintendent of Police, Visakhapatnam Rural, here on Friday.
He took the charge from G. Srinivas, who was transferred to Hyderabad as SP (Intelligence).
“All the good and successful formulas of my predecessors will be continued. I will coordinate with officers and men in providing good service to the people,” Mr. Duggal said after taking charge.
On the Maoist problem in the Visakha Agency, he said he had an understanding of the issue since he worked as Additional SP, Rampachodavaram in East Godavari, into which the Agency area extended.
The new SP promised to take steps to reduce road accidents in the plain areas.
Additional SPs — Vishal Gunni, A.D. Damodhar, and D.N. Kishore — of the district police and Tafseer Iqbal of Khammam, who till recently worked at Narsipatnam, several DSPs, and other officers were present.
Mr. Duggal was transferred here from Nizamabad district.
His first posting was at Nandyal as Assistant SP and later he worked with Greyhounds. He worked at Rampachodavaram and Pulivendula as ASP and as OSD at Karimnagar. He was made SP of Nizamabad in April 2012.
