Rear Admiral A.K. Saxena took over as Admiral Superintendent, Naval Dockyard (Visakhapatnam), from Rear Admiral G.S. Pabby at a ceremony held at the Naval Dockyard in Visakhapatnam on Wednesday.
Rear Admiral Saxena was commissioned as an Electrical Officer into the Indian Navy in August '81 and has done his Masters in Radars and Communication Technology. The Flag Officer is an alumnus of the prestigious National Defence College, New Delhi, and Naval War College. He has held several important Operational, Staff, Dockyard and Research & Development appointments in the Indian Navy.
His afloat appointments include the frontline warships INS Delhi , Gomati and Udaygiri . Rear Admiral Saxena was awarded the Vishisht Seva Medal (VSM) for his distinguished service during his previous tenure at the Naval Dockyard, Visakhapatnam, when he served as the General Manager (Refit). Prior to this appointment, the Flag Officer has served as the Additional Director General Quality Assurance (Naval) under the DGQA. Rear Admiral Pabby who was at the helm of affairs at the Naval Dockyard, Visakhapatnam, for 15 months, will now proceed to New Delhi to assume office as the Director General, Project 75 at the Integrated Headquarters, Ministry of Defence (Navy).
