Naval officer’s wife jumps to death

A Naval officer’s wife reportedly committed suicide by jumping from the 8 floor of the Naval Officer’s Residential Apartments at the Naval Coast Battery on the Beach Road here on Thursday.

Nikhila Bhat (24), wife of Lt. Commander Sudhakar Bhat, took the extreme step by jumping from the ‘Godavari Block’ around 8 a.m. The inquest was held in the evening.

Lt. Commander Sudhakar Bhat (29), native of Belgaum in Karnataka, said his wife was suffering from mental depression and was under the treatment of Dr. Sanjay Ghosh and he had shown submitted the medical records, according to One Town Inspector Syed Iliyas Mohd.

A case has been registered under Section 174 Cr. PC.

Meanwhile, it’s learnt that the parent’s of the girl were aware of the mental condition of their daughter and her treatment. They were also said to have held the naval officer in high esteem.
