Municipal Commissioner B. Ramanjaneyulu slapped heavy fines on those who were causing traffic obstructions, during his visit to some areas in the city on Wednesday.
Observing that oil tankers parked on the road at VUDA Colony, Nudupur, Mr. Ramanjaneyulu levied a fine of Rs. 50,000 on their owner Daru Durgaprasad. Earlier a merchant of Gajuwaka market who was unloading vegetables from a vehicle and obstructing traffic, was fined Rs. 10,000. He instructed the GVMC officials to collect a fine of Rs. 1,000 from every shop in the market for dumping the waste.
In the 52nd ward, the Commissioner found garbage not cleared by the night sanitation worker near the Vemana Mandiram and instructed the Sanitary Inspector to remove the worker.
A contractor was fined Rs. 5,000 and workers were issued charge memos for not removing a bin even after it was filled to the brim and replacing its with an empty bin. Mr. Ramanjaneyulu said the supervisor system was cancelled.
All factories would have to lay CC roads or BT roads to connect the main roads from their premises, the Commissioner said. He gave the instruction after observing the main roads getting spoiled due to the slush carried from the factories premises onto the roads by the vehicles. If the instruction was not followed girders would be erected in front of the gates of factories, he added.
The Commissioner told Zonal Commissioners to conduct special drives to remove scrap vehicles lying on the roads and causing inconvenience to people. Such vehicles would be removed to a scrap yard to be identified in each Zone and handed back to the owner after collecting a fine. Some scrap vehicles lying the roadside at Allipuram were ordered to be removed immediately.
