‘MSK grooming young cricketers’

M.S.K. Prasad has paid back to the game that made him great by coaching youngsters and at least a few youngsters should make it to the Indian team, Indian team Director Ravi Shastri said about the National selector and former Test player from Andhra here on Saturday.

Former cricketers of Andhra during their reunion felicitated M.S.K. Prasad and conferred on him the life achievement award. Ravi Shastri, Minister for Panchyati Raj Ch. Ayyanna Patrudu, ACA general secretary and BCCI vice-president G. Gangaraju and ACA president D.V.S.S. Somayajulu and others felicitated MSK and his wife Prashanti in the presence of their son and MSK’s father Ravi Prasad.

Member of the Indian team that arrived here on Saturday for its final Twenty20 match against Sri Lanka on Sunday, Shikhar Dhawan, team officials Bharat Arun, Sanjay Bangar and R. Sridhar and Vikram Rathod, were also present.

The Andhra cricketers reunion is being held every year since 2010 with S.K.A. Hussain and Jasti Srikanth taking the leading role. Every year, the former players, who played for Andhra in Ranji trophy and other all-India tournaments, are conferring life-time achievement award on a veteran cricketer and presenting cash awards to promising youngsters. This year the awards, which carried a cash award of Rs. 10,000 were presented to Rashid, Yoganand and Durga.
