MP’s plea on NREGA

Anakapalle MP Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao has sought additional days of work under the MGNREGA to households in the drought-affected areas to prevent migration from the rural to the urban areas. He was raising the issue in the Lok Sabha on Thursday.

Mr. Srinivasa Rao said that the States were reeling under drought situation due to scanty rainfall and consecutive droughts for the past three years. Referring to media reports, he said that the Centre had released Rs.4,000 crore for seven drought-hit States from the National Disaster Relief Fund (NDRF) and that Andhra Pradesh had received Rs.280.19 crore.
