Participating in the ‘Ammaku Vandanam’ programme organised to mark Vasanta Panchami noted scholar Chaganti Koteswara Rao spoke on the pivotal role played by mothers in moulding responsible human beings by inculcating humane values.

The well-being of children was always the wish of mothers and the Vedas gave the greatest respect to mother, he said at the programme at Chandrampalem ZP High School at Madhurawada.

He lauded the government’s initiative in organising the programme all over the Stae in schools. He administered a pledge to students. A large number of students washed the feet of mothers and garlanded them.

HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao exhorted students to respect parents and said the time-tested values in the country were commanding respect from all over the world. He said more facilities would be provided in the school spending ₹ 35 lakh.

Lok Sabha member K. Haribabu, Collector K. Pravain Kumar and VUDA Vice-Chairman P. Basanth Kumar participated.

Meanwhile, ‘Ammaku Vandanam’ programme was conducted at Skill Development Institute at Arilova. In-charge of the institution C.V.N. Das said that mother played a predominant role in everyone’s life and programmes such as these would strengthen the mother-child bond. Administrator of the institution Sasi Bhushana Rao, among others took part in the programme that concluded with skits and songs presented by a host of trainees.
