More rain forecast

A trough of low pressure is present from Telangana to South Tamil Nadu across Rayalaseema. Also, there is an upper level trough extending up to 0.9 km above sea level.

Under its influence, rain will occur at many places over north coastal Andhra Pradesh and at a few places over south coastal Andhra Pradesh, according to the reports from the Cyclone Warning Centre.

The city experienced a steady downpour from Monday morning with Waltair receiving 10.7 mm and airport recording 14.2 mm of rainfall till 1530 hrs of Monday. Weather officials said that the Southwest monsoon had been vigorous over coastal Andhra Pradesh, raising hopes of more rainfall in the next few days.

Chief amounts of rainfall recorded at a few places till 0830 hrs of Monday are: Palasa – 6 cm, Araku Valley, Rajahmundry – 5 cm, Narsipatnam, Salur, Bobbili and Paleru Bridge – 4 cm.
