More rain forecast in coastal A.P.

A brief spell of showers followed by a steady downpour lashed Visakhapatnam and parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh on Saturday. The rainfall activity was accompanied by thunderstorm with gusty wind and lightning at isolated places over coastal AP and Rayalaseema region.

According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), more rains are expected over coastal AP in the next 48 hours as a result of the north-south trough which runs from Rayalaseema to Gulf of Mannar extending up to 0.9 km above mean sea level.

Visakhapatnam city (Waltair) recorded 25 mm of rainfall from 8.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. on Saturday, while Airport recorded 2.6 mm rainfall.

Humidity levels were at a high at 93% at Waltair and 100% at Airport causing some discomfort to the residents. Tuni recorded 3 cm of rainfall till 5.30 p.m. of Saturday.
