‘Modi wave’ clicks for BJP in Vizag

The BJP, which had no electoral success either in the district or in coastal Andhra for the last many years, registered a stunning victory when K. Haribabu, its AP State unit president, won the Visakhapatnam LS seat defeating YSRC honorary president Y.S. Vijayamma by over 90,000 votes on Friday. When Mr. Haribabu was in the lead in first round, even BJP supporters were surprised. But towards the end, they understood that ‘Modi wave’ clearly had an impact on the voters. The BJP-TDP alliance worked in favour of the candidates, the indication of which was the huge margin with which the candidates in Assembly segments won.
