MoD panel inspects facilities at HSL

A multi-disciplinary committee from Ministry of Defence headed by Controller of Warship Production and Acquisition of Integrated Headquarters Vice-Admiral A.V. Subhedar visited Hindustan Shipyard Limited to study its facilities for building submarines under P 75 (I) project.

The eight-member team’s visit assumes importance in the backdrop of the Central government’s decision to place orders for six submarines each costing Rs.10,000 crore on domestic shipbuilding yards under ‘Make in India’ campaign.

HSL Chairman and Managing Director Rear Admiral (retd) N.K. Mishra along with directors and senior officials of HSL received the core committee.

The high-level committee visited various infrastructure facilities available in the yard including covered building dock, outfit jetty and dry dock. A power point presentation was made on the modernisation of the yard for the future projects and submarine constructions.

Senior officials from MoU partners BHEL and MIDHANI also participated in the yard visit and presentation.

The high-level delegation from HSL was led by Rear Admiral Mishra. He was accompanied by Cmde. Ashok Bhal, Director (Strategic Projects) of HSL and Parth Sharma.
