Pressing into service 30 mobile clinics and distribution of two lakh mosquito nets are among the new measures to be initiated to control malaria and seasonal diseases in the Agency area of the district, Tribal Welfare Minister Ravela Kishorebabu has said.
The number of malaria cases dropped by 42 per cent and so far 2687 cases were reported this year, the Minister said adding the ITDA had been instructed to open a control room and set up a toll free number to receive complaints.
The Minister, who reviewed the situation with officials on Sunday evening, said under a new scheme 30 mobile clinics would start functioning by the end of August. Each clinic would comprise a doctor, an ANM and a pharmacist. About 2 lakh mosquito nets from the Central government were expected by the month-end.
The first round of spraying to control mosquito breeding was completed in as many as 2,575 villages and the second round would begin soon, the Minister said.
The Minister said welfare hostels were not being closed but converted into residential schools with better facilities.
