Disputing claims on debt burden faced by the State by political opponents, TDP MLC M.V.V.S. Murthi on Saturday facts and figures speak for themselves on the ground realities.

In a statement here, he said it was unfortunate that some people were trying to give an impression with false claims that the State was heavily burdened with debt.

He said the economy in the State registered a growth rate of 8.5% in 2015-16 and 11.6% in 2016-17.

He said “I hope none is upset or unhappy with the improved growth rates. In fact the State’s 2029 vision aims at achieving 12% growth rate annually. This is a must and is in tune with the building up of new capital at Amaravati, world-class enterprises and institutions.”

He said the revenue receipts for 2015-16 were ₹88,600 crore in 2015-16, revenue expenditure ₹95,900 crore and deficit ₹7,300 crore as against ₹107,700 crore, ₹112,300 crore and ₹4,600 crore respectively in 2016-17. In the budget for 2017-18, the revenue receipts were put at ₹125,500 crore, revenue expenditure ₹125,900 crore and deficit at₹400 crore, he said.
