Around 16 lakh people have been given free ration in Visakhapatnam district in the aftermath of cyclone Hudhud, according to Civil Supplies Minister Paritala Sunita.

The Minister visited the ration supply shops at Kurupam Market in One Town Area on Tuesday and interacted with the people to get their feedback. “We are happy to see the smile back on the faces of people. As promised by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, we are glad that we could reach out to those affected by cyclone Hudhud,” she said.

The Minister went around fair price shops to check the quality of rice and other essential commodities given as free ration. She said that fishermen, who were the worst affected lot, would be given an additional 25 kg free ration supply.

MLA Vasupalle Ganesh Kumar said that even those who did not have ration cards were given an attested slip on the basis of Aadhar cards or voter ID card to get free ration supply.
