To resolve the tangle over land for Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) expansion, a meeting will soon be held with the Principal Secretary, Endowments and the Executive Officer of Simhachalam Devasthanam.
The payment of compensation to those losing land, if still pending, and issue of TDR should be hastened to accelerate work, Municipal Commissioner M.V. Satyanarayana told officials.
Bills pending Contractors, however, complained that the processing of bills was time-taking and bills were pending for a long time in accounting and auditing sections. Not getting bills in time was leading to delay in execution of works. Mr. Satyanarayana said the bill processing should be overseen by a divisional engineer.
Additional Commissioner M. Janaki is of the view that the payment should be streamlined to avoid delay.
The underground drainage work should be completed early so as to connect 48,000 more houses.
Efforts should also be made to complete the remaining 9,000 houses under the urban mission.
Master plan At a meeting with Mr. Satyanarayana and officials at Zone I office, Bheemunipatnam MLA M. Srinivasa Rao said a separate “master plan” should be prepared for Madhurawada.
Caution He said rapid development was taking place and the infrastructure and other needs were not keeping pace with it. He also cautioned against unauthorised construction.
The Commissioner warned that the building officials concerned would be held responsible for construction in violation of norms.
