The Three Town Police have arrested husband and wife on charge of cheating a person to the tune of Rs. 1 crore, here on Tuesday.

The arrested were identified as Meka Rambabu and Meka Kiranmayi.

According to the Three Town Police Inspector B. Venkat Rao, the accused Rambabu lured one Bhagwan Chowdary to invest in his non-existent granite company in Karimnagar some two years ago.

Rambabu promised to pay Rs. 2 lakh per month to Mr. Chowdary, which he did not pay so far.

Rambabu kept on giving evasive replies every time he was asked about the payment. Following a complaint lodged by Mr. Chowdary the Three Town Police registered a case and arrested Rambabu and his wife Kiranmayi.

They were sent in remand on Tuesday, said Krishna Rao, Sub-Inspector of Three Town Police Station
