December 08, 2014 12:06 am | Updated 12:06 am IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

A man allegedly stabbed his wife to death in an inebriated state in Kotha Kovvada area under Anandapuram Police Station limits in the early hours of Sunday. A. Venkata Rao (38), a washer man of Nellimarla in Vizianagaram district, married Ammanamma alias Ammaji of Kotha Kovvada 15 years ago. The couple has two children. Venkata Rao, an alcohol addict, used to pick up quarrels with his wife for money. Unable to bear the harassment, Ammaji, along with her children, went to her parental home a few days ago. Venkata Rao went to the house of his in-laws on Saturday to convince his wife to return home.

He consumed liquor and had dinner. Later, after other family members were fast asleep, he picked up a knife, stabbed his wife to death, and fled.

Based on a complaint, inspector R. Neelaiah registered a case and launched a manhunt for the accused.
