Man held on charge of killing wife

B. Venkat Rao (32), a farmer, allegedly killed his wife B. Chinnulamma (28), by slitting her throat with a sickle, late on Thursday night at Gadirai village under V. Madugula police station limits.

According to the police, the accused suspected the character of his wife and committed the crime in a fit of rage, and fled after committing the offence.

The couple has three children and Venkata Rao reportedly committed the crime when all the children were asleep, said Sub-Inspector S. Naidu.

Based on information from the locals in the morning, the police rushed to the spot and found the body in a pool of blood with the throat slit open. The body was shifted to the government hospital for post mortem and the cops have arrested Venkat Rao near the village on Friday morning and booked him under Section 302 of IPC.
