T. Mahadev Rao, founder secretary of Srijan and Deputy Manager (Official Language) of HPCL-Visakh Refinery, was conferred with the national Hindi award by the HRD Ministry, Central Hindi Directorate, for his poetry book “Vikalp kee Talaash main” (in search of alternative).
The award, which carries Rs.1 lakh cash, was given for the year 2009. This is the national Hindi writer award for a non-Hindi speaking Hindi writer.
Started Srijan
Dr. Mahadev Rao had written six books, 350 poems, 70 mini stories, 50 short stories and 130 articles in Hindi. He presented some of his stories, poetry through Akashavani Raipur, Ambikapur and Visakhapatnam.
An enthusiastic Hindi activist of both Hindi literature and official language, Dr. Mahadev Rao started the Hindi literary association Srijan, 12 years ago along with like-minded writers and poets. He has been working for the last 22 years as Official Language in charge in HPCL-Visakh Refinery, according to Srijan president Neerav Kumar Varma.
