Lion dies in zoo

A 11-year-old lion ‘Azam’, which was suffering from cerebral babesiosis for the past three years, died at the Indira Gandhi Zoological Park (IGZP) here on Tuesday.

Azam, brought from the Nehru Zoological Park in Hyderabad, was diagnosed with babesiosis and under treatment of Prof. Jayathangarajan of the Chennai Veterinary College, according to Zoo Curator B. Vijaya Kumar.
