Lack of info irks train passengers

July 17, 2011 12:53 pm | Updated 12:53 pm IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

Passengers travelling by the Visakhapatnam - Nanded Express (Nizamabad Express) had a harrowing experience on Saturday due to lack of proper information and power interruptions at the Visakhapatnam railway station.

The scheduled departure of the train was 7.30 p.m. “We reached the railway station around 7 p.m. and proceeded to PF 8 as the train normally leaves from there. There was no power on PF nos 6, 7 and 8 and we reached the platform with our luggage with great difficulty,” say R. Ramakrishna Rao and Sundaramma, who were going to Guntur. There was no announcement on the mike regarding the lack of power or the delay in the arrival of the coaches. Around 8.15 p.m., the coaches of Garib Rath were placed on PF 8 to disappointment of the scores of passengers including women and children who came to board the Nizamabad Express.

After the Garib Rath left, an announcement was made over the public address system that the Nizamabad Express would be placed on PF no. 3 once again irritating the passengers.

There was no display of the coach numbers on PF no.3 adding to the woes of the passengers.

It's learnt that the arrival of coaches from the washing lines was delayed which could have resulted in the delayed departure and power cut could have added to the problem. The train finally left after a delay of more than two hours.
