Krishna district stood first among the 13 districts in their overall performance assessment for the first quarter (April-July 2017) with ‘A++’ rating and a score of 0.444 on the Composite Index (CI) as per the ‘Quarter 1 (April-June) 2017-18 - Tracking the Progress-Building on Strengths’ report released by the Chief Minister at the Collectors’ Conference here on Wednesday.
It was followed by West Godavari (2), Guntur (3) and Vizianagaram (4), all of which secured ‘A++’ rating, with scores of 0.385, 0.307 and 0.266 on the CI.
Chittoor, Kurnool, East Godavari, Prakasam and Nellore were ranked 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 with ‘A+’ ratings and CI scores of 0.252, 0.243, 0.240, 0.192 and 0.158.
Kadapa, Visakhapatnam and Srikakulam stood at the 10th, 11th and 12th positions with ‘A’ rating and scores of 0.158, 0.155 and 0.146 on the CI. Anantapur was at the bottom of the table with ‘A’ rating and 0.127 CI score.
Machilipatnam Mandal in Krishna district was ranked 1st in the Gross Value Addition (GVA) by agriculture sector to the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) during the 2015-16 as per the ‘2015-16 Mandal Domestic Product Report’.
Gajuwaka Mandal in Visakhapatnam district stood first in GVA by industries sector. Visakhapatnam Urban Mandal was ranked 1st in the GVA by the services sector.
A.P.’s standing in GSDP
According to the 2017-18 Q-1 report, A.P. has crossed Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Haryana with a spurt in the GSDP from ₹5.26 lakh crore to ₹6.99 lakh crore. The State was ranked No. 9 in Per Capita Income (PCI) in 2015-16. Though it had not been able to improve its overall ranking so far, it managed to narrow the difference in the PCI between itself and the next best State Punjab over the last three years. Punjab’s PCI was ₹1.09 lakh in 2014-15, ₹1.19 lakh in 2015-16 and ₹1.29 lakh as on date compared to A.P.’s ₹0.94 lakh, ₹1.08 lakh and ₹1.22 lakh.
