Khan takes over as Jt. Commissioner of Police

The City Police Commissionerate has a Joint Commissioner of Police for the first time when A.S. Khan took charge on Thursday.

Mr. Khan, who was working as Superintendent of Police of Srikakulam district, was promoted and posted as Joint C.P. of Visakhapatnam city.

Preventing and detecting crime would be his first priority, Mr. Khan said after taking charge. He would plan the strategy after studying the trends in the city, he added.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that DIG (intelligence) T. Yoganand, who was promoted to the IG rank and posted as Commissioner of Police of the city, is expected to take charge on May 23.

IG of Coastal Security Police G. Suryaprakash Rao, who took charge as CP in-charge on Wednesday from Mr. Amit Garg, who was posted as IG (provisions and logistics), would continue till Mr. Yoganand takes charge.
