It’s gross injustice by Telangana: MP

May 27, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:52 am IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

The latest ongoing bitter row between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana over the control of assets and infrastructure of A.P. State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) appear to have set the AP leaders fuming.

Talking to The Hindu after releasing the AP ICET-15 results at Andhra University on Tuesday, MP of Anakapalle M. Srinivasa Rao said that it was gross injustice by the Telangana government to take over the APSCHE’s assets and infrastructure and seizure of bank accounts and documents.

“We are surprised by the High Court’s order to give control over everything to Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE),” he said.

Quoting Article 370 (D), he said, as per the bifurcation norms, educational bodies would essentially function jointly for the next five years and mutually for another five years, said Mr. Srinivasa Rao.

But the Telangana government was all set to flout all norms and with utter disregard to the Centre’s ruling, he asserted.

“If things do not settle amicably, we will seek the intervention of the Supreme Court,” said APSCHE Vice-Chairman Vijay Prakash. He also said that the process for EAMCET counselling would not be hampered for this reason.

HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao, who was to release the results, was held back in Hyderabad for a discussion with his Telangana counterpart and Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari.
