With the Union Government giving its approval for developing beach corridor up to Bhimili, an integrated plan will be worked out for world class amenities and tourism attractions, Special Chief Secretary (Tourism) Chandana Khan has said.
With the centre announcing funds, work would be taken up from the Fishing Harbour to Bhimli all along the Beach Road, Ms. Khan said at a meeting at VUDA office on Friday. Apart from the present places of tourist interest, new ones would be taken up. Ramakrishna Beach, Kailasagiri, Rushikonda and Bhimili and Buddhist sites Thotlakonda and Bavikonda would get top priority.
The beach corridor plan would be implemented with the district Collector coordinating and VUDA, GVMC, Archaelogy, APTDC and tourism departments would take up respective work related to them, Ms. Khan said. Landscaping and greenery would get priority. Steps would be taken for conservation of the famed ‘Erramattidibbalu.’
For special tourism projects land has already been identified and projects of international standard would be taken up under public private partnership with a total cost of Rs.850 crore.
Buddhist circuit
District Collector V. Seshadri said a Buddhist circuit could be developed including Bojjannakonda too.
VUDA Vice-Chairman N. Yuvaraj said the UDA would play its role in beach corridor beautification.
