Hassle-free clearances and allotment of suitable land will go a long way, they say

The Infrastructure Mission launched by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu here on Friday to propel accelerated growth has created tremendous enthusiasm among investors and management consultants.

Being the first to prepare a vision for infrastructure sector, many say it will help woo investors due to offer of single desk clearance by the government with country-specific helpdesks. Hassle-free clearances and allotment of suitable land developed by APIIC at a competitive rate will go a long way in attracting investors to A.P., they feel.

“Conducive climate with a pragmatic vision will certainly transform new Andhra Pradesh into the most advanced State as it is blessed with rich minerals as well as 974-km coastline,” joint managing director of Portman India Pvt. Ltd Ishwar Achanta told The Hindu .

The mission envisages increasing GDP from Rs.2.96 lakh crore (2014) to Rs.16.25 lakh crore by 2029 – a 5.5-fold jump in 15 years.

The industrial sector is recognised as a key growth driver with the decision to roll out a red carpet to BOT investors.

The mission aims to increase the share of industrial sector in total output to 30 per cent from current level of 23 per cent with an annual growth rate of over 14 per cent.

The mission talks about plans to new ports and constitution of A.P .Maritime Board to compete Singapore as a logistic hub, making Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada and Tirupati into mega cities, 11 smart cities and 28 SEZs to convert the State into an economic hub.

Target

The target is to put A.P. among top three performing States by 2022-23, best State by 2029-30 and world’s leading investment destination by 2050-51.

Going by the huge challenges ahead, a well-laid roadmap with mid-course corrections as and when required would help translate the vision into a reality, said CII Vizag zone chairman Neeraj Sarda.

Advisory Innovation leader of KPMG Arvind Mahajan said an integrated development with the synergising of the energies and involvement of stakeholders as partners would certainly make a difference.
