An ‘Information Kiosk’, to enable passengers to know the availability of buses in various routes, timings and location of a bus, was inaugurated by Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of APS RTC N. Sambasiva Rao at the Dwaraka Bus Station (RTC Complex) here on Sunday.
The kiosk would enable passengers to get information on bus services but also on the amenities at bus stations on the ‘touch screen’ computer installed at the RTC Complex.
Mr. Sambasiva Rao also launched a mobile app for live tracking of RTC bus services on smart phones of passengers. He also launched the ‘e-wallet’ app for booking tickets. Passengers can avail themselves of a 10 per cent discount on every ticket booked, using the e-wallet.
Later addressing the media, the MD said 3,000 new buses would be launched in the State in a phased manner. They would be used to replace the old buses and 400 buses would be released every month. Measures were being taken to improve the cleanliness at bus stations, improvement of circulating areas, passenger amenities and washrooms. Executive Director (Vizianagaram Zone) A. Ramakrishna, Regional Manager (Visakhapatnam) G. Sudesh Kumar and other officials were present.
