Complimenting Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited for setting up a skill development centre in line with Prime Minister’s vision on skill development, Secretary, Union Ministry of Steel, Aruna Sundararajan, expressed the hope that this centre would set a new trend in developing young people in various skills.
The Steel Secretary inaugurated the “Skill Development Centre and Vizag Steel Museum”, in Technical Training Institute at the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant here on Friday. Imparting good quality training through skill development programme plays a vital role in changing the face of the youth, she said. Later, the Steel Secretary visited the Skill Development Centre and interacted with the trainees.
RINL has always been focusing on skill development and as part of its efforts to go from strength to strength, company CMD P. Madhusudan said.
RINL was the first PSE to enter an MoU with the National Skill Development Council and so far imparted training to several thousands of young people apart from a number of beneficiaries under CSR during 2015-16, Director (Personnel) G.B.S. Prasad said in his opening remarks. Ms Sundararajan also inaugurated the ‘Vizag Steel Museum’ showcasing the live models of major production units of RINL.
