Unauthorised constructions in the cellars of educational institutions at Chaitanyanagar at Gajuwaka and lack of fire safety equipment in them came under the scanner of GVMC during a visit by Commissioner M.V. Satyanarayana.

Many corporate institutions should not have been allowed to come up on a 20-feet road by the Town Planning officials, he told Zone Commissioner A. Srinivas. The unauthorised constructions must be removed and traffic bottlenecks cleared, he said.

Chief City Planner Balakrishna was asked to put the Deputy City Planner on the job immediately.

Notices must be issued to the institutions lacking fire safety and if they did not respond, they must be seized, Mr. Satyanarayana directed officials.

At Kailasnagar and near the Rytu Bazar he noticed that buildings were being constructed without setbacks and wanted a list of such buildings to be given to him.

He found fault with officials for categorising Muslim Colony near Kaniti Rehabilitation Colony as a slum, and he directed the officials to build a footbridge across the stormwater drain there.
