Huge haul of detonators

Anakapalle police arrested two persons and seized about 10,000 detonators from them on Sunday night.

It is reported that one Thangaswami, a resident of Manipur, was allegedly trying to smuggle the detonators, when he was caught and the stuff confiscated in a vehicle check by the Anakapalle town police.

According to Inspector G. Chandra, the accused claimed that he had purchased the detonators from one Jagdish Babu, a native of Chittoor district and currently residing at Chodavaram.

“Thangaswami has claimed he had procured the detonators to conduct gemstone mining operation in the Manipur hills,” informed Mr. Chandra to The Hindu .

The police have also arrested Jagdish Babu and sent the both to judicial remand till March 13.
