HPCL blast: 3 injured workers discharged from hospital

Three workers injured in blast at Visakh Refinery of HPCL were discharged from hospital on Wednesday and Thursday following improvement in their condition.

The blast that occurred at the seawater cooling tower claimed 28 lives, including that of a senior executive.

A HPCL release said that S. Somayya, who was undergoing treatment at National Burns Centre in Mumbai, was discharged and flown back to Visakhapatnam on Wednesday.

Two other injured patients — Jai Sankar Kusuwaha and M.Ch. Naidu — who were undergoing treatment at a corporate hospital here were discharged on Thursday.

Their condition was stated to be normal.
